Organic packaging from DaklaPack

Our bio-based products are made from at least 90% renewable raw materials such as sugarcane, maize, jute or cotton. We work with bio-plastics that can be industrially composted, such as PLA for our bio-packaging grip bags or stand-up pouches, as well as bio-drop-in plastics such as bio-PE in another version of our grip bags that can be recycled in current infrastructures. We also offer plastic-free bio packaging, which is suitable as takeaway packaging to pack food responsibly and sustainably.

The ‘bio-based’ eco-label

DaklaPack's bio-based products carry a specific eco-label. Products with the bio-based plastic eco-label can be divided into two categories, depending on how they are to be disposed of:

• Drop-in bio-based plastics (e.g. bioPE, bioPP):  this bio packaging is made from plants, but has the same properties as traditional plastics such as PE and PP. Although they can be recycled if the infrastructure to do so is in place (see "designed to recycle" for more information), they are NOT compostable.
• Industrially compostable bio-based plastics (e.g. PLA): these plastics can be converted into nutrient-rich compost under certain conditions. They cannot be recycled as part of the plastic waste stream.

Bio-based gripzakken

The bio-based grip bag is a fully industrial compostable bio packaging and made of PLA - a biodegradable plastic made from corn. This bag can be collected with the organic waste and will degrade in industrial composting plants. Even the ink used for this organic packaging is certified compostable. The grip closure of this organic packaging is also made of PLA and provides a convenient way to close and open the bag. Available in different sizes, the compostable grip bags are ideal for packaging and/or shipping various products, such as jewellery, coins, samples, cards, textiles, cartridges, documents, stamps, screws and other loose items.

Bio-based stand-up pouches (industrially compostable)

DaklaPack's biological stand-up pouches are made from a combination of kraft paper and PLA - a 100% bio-based material made from maize. Like the grip bags, this bio packaging can be collected with the organic waste, after which it will decompose in industrial composting plants. The stand-up pouch is suitable for packaging both food and non-food products. However, we do not recommend packing liquids in this packaging.

Organic packaging material for take away

The bio-based take away packaging is not only sustainable, but also very practical for various catering businesses, food trucks and delivery services. Made of FSC-certified kraft material and/or sugarcane pulp (bagasse), these bio-based containers offer a sturdy and natural look for both hot and cold dishes. Their simple assembly makes them quick and easy to use. Whether for a burger, sandwich or any other dish, this organic packaging material is ideal for eco-friendly and professional presentation.
