Needle containers
Would you like to order needle containers? These needle containers are made from environmentally friendly polypropylene. The containers have extra-thick walls to prevent needles from piercing through. Thanks to their ergonomic design, they can be used efficiently and safely in laboratories, hospitals, or healthcare institutions. You can order the best needle containers from DaklaPack.
What are needle containers?
Many needles and other sharp objects are used daily in the medical world. As disposing of these objects can carry a high risk of injury and infection, it is important that the needles are processed safely. This way, as an institution, you protect medical and care staff.
Needle containers, also known as needle cups, thus offer other medical products besides needles. These include all products that are (can be) contaminated with blood such as sharp scalpels, broken ampoules, medicines, and other accessories for injections and infusions. The containers always have a striking yellow and red colour so that they are instantly recognisable to anyone working in the medical sector.
Needle containers requirements
All DaklaPack's medical waste containers bear the ISO 23907 label. This guarantees safe use in healthcare while depositing syringes, disposable instruments, medicines and opened ampoules made of glass.
The needle containers are made of polypropylene. This is because this plastic is particularly hard and therefore puncture-resistant. In addition, polypropylene can withstand above-average heat or cold without breaking.
Needle containers against the spread of infections
Needle containers play a very important role in preventing the spread of infections in the medical environment. The hygienic disposal of needles, sharps and other hazardous medical materials ensures that potential sources of infections are isolated and contained.
Needle containers ensure safe and controlled collection of infectious materials, minimising the risk of contact with blood pathogens and other pathogens. This contributes to a safe working environment for medical staff and reduces the risk of spreading infections to patients and other healthcare providers.
At DaklaPack, we therefore offer the highest quality needle containers that meet the strictest hygiene and safety standards. This ensures that they make a vital contribution to infection control in the medical sector.
Ordering different sizes of needle containers
Needle containers are available with different filling capacities. Smaller needle containers (needle cups) are well suited for home visits or other mobile medical visits. The smallest size needle cups at DaklaPack, at 250 ml, are perfect for classic doctor's bags or puncture cases or first aid kits. The largest 'mini' variant is 1000 ml and still easy to transport.
Medical practices and hospitals that have a much larger volume of medical waste and thus a greater potential for injury are better off using needle cups with a larger capacity. The largest needle cups in DaklaPack's range are 11 litres. When empty, these needle cups are easily stackable and thus hardly take up any storage space in the warehouse.
Using a needle container
To use a needle container, it is good to first consider the placement of the container. Place the needle container as close as possible to the scene, preferably at no more than one arm's length away. In addition, do not walk to another room with a used needle in a cup, but bring the needle container to the used product. Also ensure that there are sufficient spare containers at the site.
Follow the following steps to safely use the yellow medical waste container:
- Mount lid on needle container and check that the lid and cup fit tightly all around.
- Never fill the container beyond the maximum fill line.
- Do not shake the full container to create extra space.
- Use the notches in the lid to separate needle and syringe.
- Do not manually remove needles from syringes.
- Keep the container upright during use.
- Temporarily close, push lid to "first" click. When the needle container is filled to the filling line maximum, you can close the container permanently by pushing the lid through to the second click.
The importance of proper disposal with needle containers
In the medical sector, it is vital to dispose of needles, sharp objects and other medical waste safely. Special needle containers offer a solution to dispose of these potentially hazardous items safely and responsibly. These containers, also known as needle cups, are made of eco-friendly polypropylene and have a design that prevents needles from piercing through the walls. They are specially designed for use in laboratories, hospitals and healthcare facilities, where both efficiency and safety are of great importance.
