What is a biobased (grip) bag?

Biobased grip bags are grip bags made entirely from sugarcane. This makes the biodegradable bags a lot more sustainable than normal grip bags. The Biobased grip bag saves a lot of fossil fuel and CO2 emissions. 

The bio abbreakable bags can be recognised by the "I'm Green Plastic" logo on each package. This logo serves as proof that the bags are made almost entirely from bio-based material. Almost entirely, because our bio-PE films are extruded on the same machines as fossil fuel-based polyethylene (PE). They may therefore contain certain, negligible amounts of traces of fossil fuels.

Furthermore, the stand-up pouch comes with a reinforced closure for added strength.

Fully recyclable grip bags

De Biobased gripzakken zijn gemaakt om te recyclen. Ze zijn namelijk gemaakt van bio-PE (bio-polyethylene). Dit betekent dat de recyclebare gripzakken volledig bestaan uit suikerriet, een hernieuwbare grondstof. 

Het gebruik van suikerriet stelt waardevolle hulpbronnen veilig en wordt beschouwd als een praktische oplossing. De chemische structuur van bio-PE is identiek aan die van conventioneel polyethyleen en kan dus worden vervangen. Bio-PE kan dus in onze huidige infrastructuur worden gerecycleerd in de conventionele PE-stroom.

Bovendien wordt geen enkel deel van het suikerriet verspild, alles wat niet bruikbaar is voor de productie van ethanol voor de plasticproductie wordt gebruikt om de omzetting installaties van energie te voorzien, wat het doel van een afvalvrije en circulaire ondersteunt.
